ABOUT US

DPHCreative is a strategy, concept development, and hospitality management consultancy with husband-and-wife restaurateur duo Doug Psaltis and Hsing Chen.  

We create inspired and successful businesses in the world of food and wine.  We consult and advise on the operation of food and hospitality related ventures. These services range from concept development; menu creation, recipe development, staff training, wine list and service consultations, operational controls, public relations and marketing, and full-service management.

Doug Psaltis

Doug is a Michelin star chef and restaurateur with more than twenty years of experience running some of the country’s most esteemed establishments. His expertise and insight into restaurant concept development along with front and back-of-house house operations has made him a much sought-after specialist globally.

Psaltis worked with some of the best chefs in the world and lead teams that earned acclaim at several NYC restaurants, including Country (where he earned a Michelin star), Alain Ducasse's Mix and ADNY (three Michelin stars).  

Psaltis was a partner in several of Chicago's most successful restaurants including the RPM Restaurant Group, Pizzeria Portofino, Ramen San, Sushi San, Bub City, Joe's Live, Three Dots and a Dash Tiki Bar, and Bar Ramone. Psaltis is also the co-founder of the award-winning Windy City Smokeout barbecue and country music festival.

His years of expertise in various cuisines with fine-dining and high volume restaurants enables Psaltis to create restaurants with remarkable operational efficiencies.

Hsing Chen

Hsing is an esteemed pastry chef and an Emmy-award winning journalist with a background in communications.  She has lead the pastry programs at prestigious fine-dining establishments, catering companies and luxury hotels across the country including Manresa Restaurant, The French Laundry, Country Restaurant, Jean-Georges Corporate, The Peninsula Hotels, and the RPM Restaurant Group. During her time in NYC she was listed as one of the top cake/dessert stylists in New York Magazine.

Chen's desserts have been featured in several publications/media including Today's Chicago Woman, The Chicagoist, ABC News, CS Magazine, Food Arts, The Cooking Channel.  She has been a contributing writer for Edible Magazine, CocoAroma,  and Gilt Taste.

 

With her experience as a research assistant in television news, including Dateline NBC, work as an associate producer for several documentaries, and creating innovative content for technology startups like TiVo, Chen has a knack for marrying soundbites with images to tell impactful stories. With her creative eye for detail, food photography and media know-how she supports mission-driven hospitality related projects by creating content and communication strategies with some of today's most interesting chefs, activists and brands.
